I'm sorry, but I think it is. The majority of the public have always preferred lowbrow entertainment over the highbrow. For centuries. Yes, there were a lot of good movies in the past. There were also a lot of good movies that were nothing but mindless crap. There have also been movies that pretended to be highbrow, but ended up being crap. And so forth.<br /><br />Who in the hell is Roger Ebert to tell us what kind of movies we should watch? Or what kind of entertainment we should enjoy? It is none of his business. If he found a good movie that he liked and wanted to express his views upon . . . well, that's fine. But if a moviegoer is able to enjoy something like "TRANSFORMERS" or "G.I. JOE" then there is nothing wrong about that. Ebert and his kind have to face the fact that there are millions of people who do not share their tastes in movies. We all have to face the fact that not everyone is going to adhere our individual opinions about any particular movie.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
